The Depth Charge Recording Group

Depth Charge’s relationship with MTV spans back several years.  Depth Charge first began licensing catalog to MTV in 2005 for the show, “Made.” Soon after, Depth Charge also began providing music for, “My Super Sweet 16,” and “News and Docs.” Depth Charge is proud to announce that music by Team Demo will be featured in upcoming episodes of “True Life,” as well as the new series, “Get Over It.” 

We have made some changes to Depthcharge.com that will make it easier to update the happenings and events at the studio, as well as our production work as Team Demo.  Some things to keep in mind…

• We have placed a password requirement on the “Book Studio Time”Page in order to prevent spammers.  If you are a client of Depth Charge Studios and you would like to book your time online, please email us at info@depthcharge.com and we will provide you with a password.
• We have removed the “Re-Order CDs”form.  Please call us to order or re-order cds and dvds.
• The video archive can now be seen by clicking the “Depth Charge TV” link in the sidebar.
• We have included links to our clients pages in the sidebar.  If you are a client and would like to have your web page linked, please email us.
• We have placed a Twitter feed in the sidebar.  If you mention “Depth Charge Studios” or “Team Demo” in your tweet, it will be included in the feed. 
• We have placed a slim daily session calendar in the sidebar.   For details on your session, click on the appointment. 
• If you are a client of Depth Charge Studios and you are “doing big things,” we want to know about it and post it on our page.  Please keep us informed via e-mail.  If you have posted video of your sessions at Depth Charge on the web, please send us the links so we can post them on the site. 
• We are still updating a few pages and some content may be temporarily unavailable.

Depth Charge and Team Demo go way back with rapper Kurious (aka Kurious Jorge.) Kurious and MF Doom met Zechariah Wise and DJ Dialtone in the early 90s through a shared business connection with Pete Nice of Third Bass.  In the late 90s, Kurious spent a great deal of time at Depth Charge with Team Demo and was featured on the 1997 release by the Lower Life Forms, “Independence Day.”  Years later, the connection remains strong as Team Demo and Jorge hooked up again to create “Wake Up,” for Jorge’s sophomore album, “II.” The album is in stores and online now through Amalgam Records. 

Super-Producer and Depth Charge client J-Scrilla has just released his new album, “Culture of Honor.” on Inner Loop Records.  Much of the album was recorded and mixed by Zechariah Wise at Depth Charge Studios including the single, “Guns and Butter,” featuring K-Beta and XO.  Check out the video below and visit the Inner Loop Website for more info and downloads.

Washington, DC artist, Kingpen Slim, is making noise with his new album, “The Beam Up.”  The album was almost entirely recorded at Depth Charge Studios and features “Phatter Than You,” and “Right” produced by Team Demo.  Click here for download.

Depth Charge CEO Zechariah Wise and Fly Lounge’s DJ Dirty Hands teamed up to Remix Chris Brown’s latest single “Forever,” for Jive Records.  The duo collaborated over the course of two days at Depth Charge and the remix should be hitting circulation by the time this is posted.

Close friend of Depth Charge CEO, Zechariah Wise, and long time Depth Charge client, Nikki Jean, has signed with Columbia Records.  Nikki has been creating a loyal following over the past year and was featured on Lupe Fiasco’s hit, “Hip Hop Saved My Life.”  ”I couldn’t be more proud of her,” says Wise.  “She is one of my closest friends and one of the most talented people with whom I have ever worked.”  Wise was with Nikki this past month in Miami celebrating her birthday and her recent signing.  Early plans are vague, but it looks as the label is shooting to release a debut album from Nikki Jean sometime in 2010. 

Interscope recording artist, Wale, has been a frequent client of Depth Charge Studios in the past and was recently in the studio recording vocals to tracks produced by Team Demo.  Wale’s debut album on Interscope is scheduled for a mid-2009 release.

Illa Ghee has been working out of Depth Charge Studios with Team Demo for three years, and “Bullet and a Bracelet” features a few fruits of their labor; including the single, “Walk with a Shotgun,” featuring Prodigy of Mobb Deep. .  The album also features production from The Alchemist, Beat Firm and Havoc and is in stores and online now.
